The right-wing former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been indicted on corruption charges.
Berlusconi, a key ally for President Bush and the war in Iraq until he lost his election to the liberal current Italian PM Romano Prodi in May this year, stands accused of bribery amounting in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
His elected replacement, Prodi, has called the war in Iraq a “grave mistake” and has pledged to remove all Italian troops from the country.
