A few misc polls
by Arlen Parsa
A few assorted polls I wanted to highly briefly.
_In New Jersey, the only state where a Demoratic Senator is really in trouble, incumbent Bob Menendez is leading by 6 points (48%-42%) over Republican challenger Tom Kean Jr in the latest poll, conducted by Research 2000.
According to the new Newsweek/Princeton Survey Reserach Associated International poll (what a mouthful), 40% of the population opposes any type of expanded, more-equal rights for gay Americans. Meanwhile, 26% think gay Americans should have the right to have civil unions, and 24% are in favor of full equal marriage rights. That adds up to 50%; a plurality that favors greater rights.
57% and 44% respectively of Americans think that the House and Senate races in their area will be close contests this year (this impression, despite the fact that only a handful of races are considered truly competative).
A quarter of Americans who use the internet to find out about candidates get that information from blogs. That amounts to about 9 or 10 percent of the full US population.
