| 100 million year old fossil discovered

Insect fossils are semi-rarities for fossil scholars, for a simple reason. Bugs lack bones. Most insect fossils are actually remains trapped in amber, which is fossilized tree sap. A good example is the freshly-reported fossil bee found inside an amber mine in northern Myanmar. Reported in the current Science magazine, the amber chip-contained bee is 100 million years old and belongs to a previously unknown bee species, Melittosphex burmensis. “Other known bee fossils are 35 to 45 million years younger,” report study authors George Poinar of Oregon State University and Brad Danforth of Cornell University.
100 million years old? But the earth is only 6,000 years old according to our fundamentalist religious beliefs! OMG, it must be an evil liberal hoax perpetrated by god-hating, gay-loving flag-burning scientists who hate every religion besides Islam and hate America wiretapping terrorists and are encouraging insurgent violence in Iraq so Democrats win the majority in the November 7th midterm elections! Don’t believe a word of what they say!
