Former White House Administration procurement officer David Safavian was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison today.
Safavian will be the first official to go to prison over his ties to former Republican corrupt mega-lobbyist Jack Abramoff (Abramoff himself, is still not in prison and has not been sentenced because he is still cooperating with the Department of Justice in order to give more information on other officials he bribed).
