The Associated Press is reporting that six locations across two states have been searched by the FBI as part of their investigation into whether or not Pennsylvania Republican Congressman Curt Weldon (pictured above with a suspicious briefcase full of cash) inappropriately helped his daughter get contracts (in all, worth 1 million dollars) through her lobbying firm. Among the locations searched were Weldon’s daughter’s house as well as that of a close friend.

Weldon, meanwhile, says the investigation is politically motivated. He is locked in a close race for re-election in Pennsylvania’s 7th district with Democratic challenger and retired Vice Admiral Joe Sestak. The race is currently pegged at “no clear favorite” by CQPolitics, and “Toss Up by the Cook Political Report. Polls show Sestak leading.
