Apparently a verdict is scheduled to be dropped in Saddam Hussein’s trial right before our midterm elections. And by a verdict, I guess that means he’s scheduled to be convicted. So the question is: is that supposed to be some sort of grand coincidence?
Meanwhile, Karl Rove is reportedly confident that Republicans will not lose control of either the House or the Senate this year. His smugness feels either like somebody who is in delusion or knows something the rest of us don’t.

Well, if there is anything to it, it would hardly be the grandest of coincidences we’ve been confronted with.
Even just lately, regarding the midterms. Between the Diebold hack videos, the torture bill, the books (by Kuo and Woodward, especially), the Foley thing and the circus that followed…
Yeah, it’s obviously become pivotal and the only two Republicans left with any confidence (at least in public) are Rove and Bush.
I vote delusional. On both counts.
