Breaking news, guys… I’m hearing that Republican House Representative Mark Foley will be resigning today. Recently a questionable email correspondence was leaked by a House page (a minor) to the press, which shows the Florida Congressman asking for a picture of the minor and asking how old they are.

Well now I hear that ABC News has uncovered transcripts of cyber-sex activities between the Congressmen and multiple other minors. He’s rumored to be handing Denny Hastert his resignation sometime today.

More on this story as I get it…

Update: Associated Press has it (blurb) that he’s already resigned but doesn’t mention the AOL Instant Messenger cyber-sex angle. Expect another update later today when more facts arise. This will probably hit the nightly news pretty big and we’ll have some real writeups by late afternoon.

Update 2: I hear there will be an investigation… Midterm wise, Foley was expected to be re-elected easily but now Democrat Tim Mahoney might now pick up the seat in a surprise for Democrats. There may be a write-in nonethelesshowever. Wouldn’t be surprising. Also, this pretty much confirms long-standing rumors that Foley was secretly gay or bisexual, since all House pages are males. Ironically enough, Foley has been a vocal critic of adult sexual predators and stuff like that.

Update 3: Extremely short statement from Foley:

“I am deeply sorry and I apologize for letting down my family and the people of Florida I have had the privilege to represent.”

Update 4: Here’s ABC News’ Blotter on the new developments
