Ironic Followup: Republican Rep resigns over lewd contact with minors

Ironically enough, 52-year-old Republican Congressman Mark Foley’s MySpace profile says he doesn’t “want” kids. He abruptly resigned today in complete disgrace, after it was revealed that he may have been stalking multiple House pages, all minors.

Suspicious email correspondences with one 16 year old male page, and multiple lewd transcripts of AOL Instant Messenger conversations with underage pages (official House assistants) were leaked to the press over recent days, by the pages who came forward, feeling the Congressman’s conduct with them was inappropriate.

More ironic still is that the Congressman, who was previously considered a safe bet for re-election this year in Florida’s conservative 16th district, was a leader in authoring legislation to combat sexual predators of children including child pornographers, specifically via the internet.

An official investigation may be forthcoming regarding the Congressman’s conduct.

ABC News has been instrumental in cracking this story open, and they are expected to be reporting tonight on the previously-unknown lewd Instant Messanger transcripts.

“ABC News reported that Mr Foley, who was chairman of the caucus on missing and exploited children, sent messages with repeated references to sexual organs and acts.”
