Replying to right-wingers installment #5
by Arlen Parsa
For your entertainment, I bring you part five of our continuing series “replying to right-wingers.” Part one of the series as well as a short explanation can be found here. The following exchange was in discussing, um, alternative energy sources. Sort of. The right-winger I was replying to (and no grammar spelling or punctuation has been changed) originally wrote the following:
just do a litlle bit of research and u can see that global warming is a dam hoax. 85% of stuff that contributes to global warming is watar vapor and we cant do anthing to stop that because it WATER!!!!!!!!!
Obviously not written by somebody who understands global warming. I explained with simply “That’s incorrect. Entirely and completely false. You cannot back that up with a source because it is simply not a fact. You’re just wrong.” Apparently that was not enough however. He quickly replied “really, even though the most credible scientists on earth said that.” When I asked him to cite “one legitimate source” that backed up his claim that “the most credible scientists on earth” (or frankly anybody) says that global warming is caused by water, he didn’t reply.
And I haven’t heard back from him since. That was a month ago.
There’s an interesting epilogue however. A while ago the same person posted a comment somewhere else saying “u guys are retarded theres no way to stop global warming.” I forget whether this was before or after he said he hoped Al Gore dies. So, he says global warming is real, but he also says it’s a “dam hoax”? He should get his facts straight.. err, non-fact-based rantings straight.
