“Pork-buster” bill to become law– finally
by Arlen Parsa
Maybe you remember: the other day I asked if the “pork-busting” bill backed by Senators Barack Obama (D-IL) and Tom Coburn (R-OK) would finally pass through Congress to become law.
After passing the Senate, the bill passed through the House and is expected to be signed by the President soon. The database won’t be established until sometime next year, but this is great nonetheless. It is a shame that it didn’t pass sooner (thanks, Senator Ted “series of tubes” Stevens). Democrat Robert Byrd also placed a “secret hold” on the bill for a short period of time, but Stevens was reportedly the major obstacle.
