Replying to right-wingers installment #3
by Arlen Parsa
For your entertainment, I bring you part three of our continuing series “replying to right-wingers.” Part one of the series as well as a short explanation can be found here. The following exchange was in discussing alternative energy sources. The right-winger said (and I have not altered the punctuation at all) the following:
hey all you peope sayign we should make all hydrogen cars and no gas runnign cars??? well we cant, the only source we can get hydrogen from (other then humans) is water, if we keep burnign water, ther will soon be no more drinking water. then what? dehydrate ourselfs??? and electric cars, what does it take to make electricity? we burn gas and oil, thast how.
Amazing. Sounds almost like I made this up, doesn’t it? I wonder how old this person is. I responded, as calmly as possible below:
“The earth is 70% water. There is more water than gas: it would take longer to “use up” but because it’s a reusable resource, you can’t “use up” water. By the way, most environmentalists aren’t a big fan of hydrogen powered vehicles however because of their expense.”
These are the people we’re up against.
