Israeli military illegally attacks Reuters journalists in Gaza Strip
by Arlen Parsa
The Israeli military attacked a Reuters press SUV in Gaza Strip today, according to reports. The SUV was marked with the internationally recognized Reuters logo and said “TV” and press on it in English, Arabic and Hebrew. Apparently some sort of aircraft was used (likely a helicopter) to strike the press vehicle, which was clearly marked on all sides as well as the top. Two cameramen and three bystanders were injured and taken to the hospital.
The Israeli military has been known to attack journalists before (a violation of the Geneva convention), as well as attack ambulances rarely offering apologies or holding anyone accountable. The military had no statement to make regarding the attack which struck the vehicle not once but twice, according to witnesses.
