CT Primary- Why it matters
by Arlen Parsa
If you can, help.
If you can’t help, then hope.
Hope that for once the candidate who stands for peace will prevail over the candidate who stands for continued war. Hope that the candidate who holds the promise of change will triumph over the candidate that stands for more of the same weak Democratic opposition to this truly terrible government that rules over us.
Hope that tomorrow, every progressive in America will wake up to news that will signal real change. If Ned Lamont wins the Connecticut primary, it doesn’t just mean that Connecticut will have a new Democratic candidate for Senate in November’s elections.
It means that Democratic politicians everywhere will be given the courage to stand up and say what they really think about this war in Iraq- without fear of alienating their voters. It will restore the long-missing spine that Democrats need to take back Congress this fall.
It will prove to everyone that the Democratic party is the true voice of progress and not simply a continuation of the same old failed foreign policies that Joe Lieberman endorses wholeheartedly, same old “you’re on your own” healthcare system that Joe Lieberman has not lifted a finger to change- despite his powerful position, same old criminal profits for oil corporations in criminal energy bills that Joe Lieberman voted for, same old lobbyists who fund our candidates- like Joe Lieberman, and most of all same immoral war that Joe Lieberman still supports.
