The Daily Background

Ned Lamont appeared on The Colbert Report last night, and did an excellent job. Although he seemed to start out a little nervous, he quickly became comfortable and started really shining. The audience loved him, and interrupted the conversation with applause several times.

The only issue on which I find myself at odds with Lamont about is the issue of Israel, but I think he’s a bit more moderate about it than probably a lot of other people in Washington these days just because Lamont hasn’t been alongside them shouting about how Israel is “defending” itself and can do no wrong.

Excellent job, Ned. Let’s hope that people in Connecticut were watching and were as impressed as I was. After his initial nervousness he came off polished, and made several good points. “We got into this mess [Iraq] not because we asked too many questions, but because we asked too few” Ned said at one point, to much applause.
