Iranian Rights Advocates Insist On Freeing Political Prisoners
by Martha
Arlen spoke earlier about the Friday-through-Sunday hunger strike led by human rights activist Akbar Ganji in New York. The group (www.free-political-prisoners.net) is protesting to raise awareness of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s policies “that are reminiscent of some of the darkest days of the Islamic Republic.”
Furthermore, because Iran’s government has been concentrating their efforts on human rights activists, they (the activists) have been insisting and pressuring the Iranian government to free political prisoners, and had a news conference in the nation’s capital last Tuesday to denounce the imprisonment of so many rights advocates.
