The above clip is from a PBS program called “NOW” which aired on June 16. The program explained in this segment titled “Crude Awakening” how big oil companies are earning record profits, while the Bush Administration is letting them get away with not paying up to 80 billion dollars in royalties owed for oil pumped on public land.
I bet you didn’t even know that oil companies were allowed to drill on public land, or that they’re not paying the money they should to the government (I sure didn’t). It’s especially troubling because right now the government can use all the money it can get; what with the biggest national debt in all of history, and all.
You can find the program page for this episode at the PBS NOW website.
