So did you know that it’s possible to drive a police car while handcuffed? Apparently it is.

Song: Slide
Artist: Goo Goo Dolls (Wikipedia)
Genre: Soft Rock

Libby’s unbelievably bad memory (it’s really not believable)

Filed at 10:30 pm, Friday May 26th 2006
by Arlen Parsa

The title is “Libby’s unbelievably bad memory.” And I really do literally mean that Libby’s bad memory is really not believable.
So apparently 5-time-indicted former Vice Presidential aide Lewis “Scooter” Libby somehow managed to ‘forget’ that seven people talked with him about Valerie Plame’s identity. These people included his former boss the Vice President, and CIA […]

Why naturally!

Alaskan Governor Frank Murkowski either apparently does not have a firm understanding of polls, or enjoys wasting his time and money on futile campaigns.

What does a governor with a staggeringly low approval rating of 23 percent do? Why run for reelection, of course.
Oh man. Those Republican Governors just don’t know when to quit sometimes. MyDD […]

Why did the FBI (really) raid Jefferson’s offices?

Filed at 8:30 pm, Friday May 26th 2006
by Arlen Parsa

It’s really not a matter of whether or not William Jefferson (D-La, likely corrupt) will be indicted or not. It’s a question of when. And everything we’ve heard so far indicates that the answer to the “when” question is either June or July.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that the feds didn’t really need to raid his […]

Poll: America doesn’t trust those in power

From UPI:

Only 3 percent believe Congress is trustworthy; 7 percent think business leaders are; 24 percent say President George W. Bush can be trusted; and 29 percent trust the courts.
[…]
Three out of four respondents said they trust politicians less than they did five years ago.

Not surprising. Americans don’t trust Republican-controlled congress, Americans don’t trust […]

Vice President Cheney’s status in the CIA Leak Case

Filed at 6:30 pm, Friday May 26th 2006
by Arlen Parsa

Vice President’s profile in the CIA leak case is seen as growing, several reports have indicated in the past 48 hours. I wrote the following yesterday in response to one of them:

Well that’s the sort of mild suggestion that could prove very important. Now there have been reports that Vice President Cheney is going to […]

Blair is ‘too busy’ for Iran

Evidently Tony Blair is ‘too busy‘ for Iran. He said this in an interview with al Jazeera, no less. Hahahaha. Weird things happen on Fridays.

General Hayden is confirmed by the full Senate

Filed at 4:30 pm, Friday May 26th 2006
by Arlen Parsa

General Hayden was unsurprisingly confirmed by the full Senate today by a surprising vote of 78-15. I’m not sure anybody expected it to be that clear cut.
Notables voting against Hayden were Arlen Specter (the only Republican to oppose the general), Russ Feingold, John Kerry, Barack Obama, Ted Kennedy, and Hillary Clinton. I’m surprised Patrick Leahy […]

Bush’s ‘Voluntary’ polution plan for big corporations shown entirely ineffetive

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has produced a special report on a joint request from Senators Kerry and McCain about the effectiveness of softball environmental measures composed by the Bush Administration. The results are not surprising:

The Bush administration’s voluntary programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by industry have yet to deliver promised results, according to […]

About 8 percent of the population of the United States of America just had their personal information, birthdays, social security numbers and other vital information stolen. This percentage is based on CIA figures for 2006.
When the first reports that the personal information of more than twenty six million American veterans (everybody who has left the […]

House Republicans send Alaska drilling bill to Senate yet again

Filed at 10:30 am, Friday May 26th 2006
by Arlen Parsa

Reuters is reporting that the Republican-dominated House of Representatives voted late yesterday to allow oil drilling in the Alaskan refuge known as ANWR. Naturally it doesn’t have a chance in the Senate, but this vote serves as another reason why Richard Pombo (one of the absolute worst enemies of the environment in Congress today), who […]
