The Daily Background

General Michael Hayden was fake-sworn-in today, for the cameras at the CIA. He was sworn in for real yesterday in private. The President, who spoke before Hayden was ’sworn in’ apparently felt as though he had to defend his earlier nominee Porter Goss, and did so for a good deal of his speech. Bush seemed unusually nervous, and stuttered several times (more than usual).
