House Republicans send Alaska drilling bill to Senate yet again
by Arlen Parsa
Reuters is reporting that the Republican-dominated House of Representatives voted late yesterday to allow oil drilling in the Alaskan refuge known as ANWR. Naturally it doesn’t have a chance in the Senate, but this vote serves as another reason why Richard Pombo (one of the absolute worst enemies of the environment in Congress today), who spearheaded the effort needs to be deafeated this November.
Representative Diana DeGette, a Democrat from Colorado expressed her anger at the waste of time the House debate consumed, saying quite bluntly “Everyone knows this bill is dead on arrival in the U.S. Senate.”
