Tom Delay’s legal defense fund mistakenly praises Stephen Colbert
by Arlen Parsa

Well this is pretty ironic and funny. Apparently Tom DeLay’s legal defense fund doesn’t quite understand things like sarcasm and spoof. Evidently, they think that he’s a real, serious, conservative anchor, and supports Tom DeLay. ThinkProgress has noticed that DeLay’s legal defense fund website actually features a video from the Colbert Report, in which Colbert mockingly has some ‘tough questions’ for Robert Greenwald, a documentary producer whose latest film (The Big Buy) chronicles DeLay’s extensive corruption.
Colbert (Wikipedia), a liberal comedian who pretends to be a conservative Bill O’Reilly-like figure in order to mock him, pretends to be furiously defensive of DeLay, and of course the audience thinks its hillarious. Apparently DeLay’s people didn’t notice that Colbert works for Comedy Central. You can watch the video at DeLay’s legal defense website (although they may take it down if they realize that it’s a spoof).
