CA-50 Busby strikes a bit of luck

Remember the CA-50 special run-off election on June 6th? Excellent Demorat Francine Busby is competing against Republican Brian Bilbray for corrupt convicted-felon Duke Cunningham’s House seat (Cunningham of Hookergate fame). Francine has been fighting an uphill battle because it’s a generally conservative area (unlike most of California), but she seems to be doing well, and out-doing her opponent by small margins.

However, in this race to replace a corrupt Republican, it seems that the Republican who would seek to replace him isn’t exactly entirely clean himself. Swing State Project explains the situation quite well. Apparently the Busby’s opponent doesn’t even live in the district, much less in the state itself, which would make his run illegal, and raise various other questions. It looks like this is going to pan out well for Francine Busby, so cool. We’ll certainly see what happens in CA-50 come early June.
