Foggo Out: Second top CIA official resigns
by Arlen Parsa
On Saturday, I was among the very first to suggest that Kyle “Dusty” Foggo was going to resign as early as Monday, today, and he has. Print media has been rather slow to report what ought to make a great headline “CIA Exec Director follows Director in Resignation” but apparently they haven’t. ABC was the first to report it today (although there had been scattered reports over the weekend) and MSNBC confirmed.
Funny thing, ABC wrote:
Dusty Foggo, the executive director of the CIA linked to a bribery investigation, is expected to resign soon, according to CIA officials and his associates.
Well yes, except for one thing. “Dusty” isn’t Foggo’s first name. Kyle is. It appears that the folks over at ABC seem to have gotten the guy’s nickname, it’s almost as if they’re friends with him. Or something. Same thing happened with Lewis “Scooter” Libby when he was indicted; it was like every reporter got on first name basis with him.
As far as I understand, Foggo is being rather quiet about this, or is at least trying to be. Since there has been no official public announcement (as far as I know of yet), the info we have is through leaks of an intra-CIA email saying he was quitting. That might explain why so few news sources have picked up the story. Associated Press just filed their article on this.
