Corrupt former Republican House Representative gets 8 Years, 4 months. Defense wanted 6, prosecution wanted 10. He got the longest term any House Representative has ever gotten. Justice has been served.
[…] Apparently admittedly corrupt, indicted, convicted, Republican jail-bird Duke Cunningham’s personal belongings (all of them gift bribes) are being auctioned off to cover his back taxes. Associated Press gives the public some insight of the bribe gifts that Cunningham illegally accepted in exchange for awarding at least one private contractor multi-million dollar contracts, paid with our tax money. Here’s a preview: Silver-plated candelabras. A cedar-lined lingerie cabinet. Persian rugs. An oak hutch carved with lions’ heads, tree limbs and acorns. […] “Lavish,” said Jim Sudomir, a retiree from Fallbrook, summing up Cunningham’s lifestyle as he looked over the display. “If he was going to be a crook he should have been a smarter one. He thought he was above all that. … Look where he’s at now. He’s in jail.” […]
