AMERICAblog says Reuters picks apart the “but he didn’t know about it” defense.

The obvious problems with this defense that I see, are that firstly, if he didn’t know about it, the President was defending something he didn’t know about until the day before or whatever. Along those lines, if he wasn’t informed, it makes him look like an idiot– defending a program he wasn’t even briefed about, and propped up to defend. It looks like he has no say in it. Which of course he didn’t.
