The Daily Background

The President is about to take the podium. Things are now a hushed murmering of Senators, House Representatives, and their guests. This is a joint session of congress, so the place is understandably crowded. The gavel just dropped. Here comes the president. Applause appears noticably less than thunderous, at least on C-SPAN, where I’m watching it. As the President makes his way down the aisle, he is preceeded by a delegation of House Reps and Senators. Shaking hands the whole way down.

I already reported that Cindy Sheehan was going to be in attendance, however it’s now being rumored that she was arrested upon arrival? Details are sketchy. I’ll have an update on this angle ASAP though. FOX says she has detained, but not arrested. They say she was going to demonstrate, although she said beforehand that she would not.
