Cloture Vote Passes
by Arlen Parsa
The cloture vote to end debate on Supreme Court nominee Alito just passed, with a final vote of 72 to 25. Well damn. Looks like we’ve lost this battle, and Alito will be confirmed tomorrow with a simple majority in a final Senate vote at 11am.
Of interest, Senator Lieberman (”D” - CT), who earlier said that he was open to a filibuster, went back on his earlier statement– and voted for cloture, confirming everyone’s suspicion that he was in fact: a bastard who is merely full of hot air and cannot be counted on when it comes down to it. Not that we didn’t pretty much already know this.
The Daily Background

Lieberman is my senator and I cannot even TELL you how pissed, scared, upset, paranoid and am I out of adjectives already? I just want to huddle in a corner and cry. What the hell? Why won’t the Dems fight? What is going on here? Are they afraid of political assination if they don’t all fall in line. What What what!
I feel the same way as you do, however Lieberman is not my Senator. It looks like there will, however, be an alternative to him this November election season. The challenger’s name is Ned Lamont.
