Site Update

Site update time. I think I’m going to try and write a little something about running this site each week. Yeah, I’ll probably give up after one or two weeks, but it might be interesting to read for a bit.

This week, I’d like to write a bit about referring URLs. I started running the website around December 4th, so it’s not as though the site is very well known. Still, my webhost statistics panel tells me that there is already a long list of websites linking to The Daily Background.

Some of them are what you might expect; other political sites and blogs, like CrooksandLiars, DailyKos, The Left Coaster, Corrent Wire and Buzzflash. But not all of the sites that link to The Daily Background are ones you might expect. In fact, many of them I can’t even explain myself. Here’s an list of the following you might find entertaining, along with my comments:

Yahoo.com Finance Section - I’m sure The Daily Background makes interesting reading for stock brokers during their luncbreak

AARP Forums - Actually I didn’t know this, but AARP (an advocacy group for 50+ year olds) has a pretty swinging hot message board

MacAddict Forums - Although I’m a part-time Mac user, I fail to see the connection between The Daily Background and Apple Computer, maybe there’s some inherent connection but I haven’t caught it yet

Something called Would You Hit This.com - WTF? Again, maybe it’s obvious, but I fail to see the connection

The Official Webpage for Avant Browser - I’m honored but confused

FastClick.net - Prominent online advertiser, again; no idea…

TimeTravelForum.net - Wow, again. nnnnnnnooooo ideaaaaaa why they linked to The Daily Background

iWon.com - Eh? Did I win something? If so, I wish they’d at least tell me…

Limited updates for a few days; I’m with the family. Posting for now might just be a series of blogroundups.
