The Daily Background

Yesterday, I noted the trend of blogs leading the mainstream media (MSM).

Today, along comes another great example of this, and a more personal one for me. Following WaPo’s article which mentioned a few juicy details previously unknown about the timing of the now infamous NYT NSA spying story, including the fact that the lead journalist involved (James Risen) was about to publish a book which revealed the detatils of the NSA Wiretap story- I blogged extensively about NYT’s motivation behind the timing of the story here. After having been linked to from C&L, and hitting the DailyKos reccomended diaries list within minutes after posting, somebody now pointed out that the LA Times picked up the story here.

Heh, I’ll take this as an opportunity to pat myself on the back for knowing a good scoop when I saw one, even if it had nothing to do with the LA Times article.
